I believe the Open University is a very good institution because it provides flexible learning opportunities for people who may not be able to attend a conventional university. I like that it allows students to study at their own pace and combine learning with work or other responsibilities. It has a very high standard of learning and zero-tolerance to malpractice .The online resources and study centres also make learning more convenient and accessible.
What I dislike, however, is that sometimes the distance-learning method can feel a bit isolating, and students may miss out on the face-to-face interaction that traditional universities offer. Internet challenges can also make online learning difficult at times.
Overall, I would recommend the Open University to anyone who values flexibility, independence, and lifelong learning. It’s a great option for those who are self-motivated and want to balance education with other aspects of life.
View moreStudying at the National Open University of Nigeria has been a pretty good experience overall. My graduate program in Information Technology gave me a solid mix of theory and practical experience, and I feel like I’ve grown a lot academically since I enrolled here.
The professors are one of the best parts of my experience at NOUN. Most of them are really supportive, approachable, and genuinely care about students doing well. I also liked the variety of classes I could choose from, which made it easy to focus on areas I was most interested in.
On the other hand, some of the administration stuff can be slow and frustrating. One downside is that there aren’t enough support staff for the number of students, so it sometimes took a while to get help or have support tickets resolved. A few courses also felt like they could use more real-world projects or industry connections to make them more practical.
What really stood out to me was how supportive my classmates were. The camaraderie in class groups was amazing and made the whole college experience much more enjoyable.
I’d definitely recommend the National Open University of Nigeria if you’re thinking about studying Information Technology. It’s not perfect, but the positives outweigh the negatives, and you’ll get a lot out of the experience.
