I am currently a final year student of the department of Pharmacology, LASU, Ikeja Campus, and I will say it’s been one of the biggest test and challenge I’ve had to deal with in life.
From having to read during late nights and doing everything to have good grades by the end of each semester, to being disappointed your efforts are not acknowledged by the lecturers. I mean, how do I explain being at the top of my class throughout my secondary school years, to dealing with carryovers and low cgpa in uni? It’s crazy.
Also, there is inadequate facility in the school. We call it college of medicine, but there are no facilities to show for it. Meanwhile, the numbers of students that are getting admitted are increasing by the sessions. The lecture halls are not conductive, the laboratories lack enough stools for students to sit on. Most importantly, school fees are increasing over sessions, for a school with inadequate resources! I could just go on and on.
The only good side are the events that are organized by the student bodies. Debates, sport events, medical outreaches, excursions, and the Almighty healthweek that every students of LASUCOM always look forward to buy the end of each session.
So, University life has been a bittersweet phase.
