FUTO gave me a strong technical foundation, and what stood out most was its culture of resilience and innovation. The university instills in you the ability to think practically and solve problems even in resource-constrained situations — a skill that has carried into my professional life.
I appreciated the depth of technical exposure, especially the balance between theory, i was given the role of a class representative and hands-on application. The diversity of the student community also made the experience enriching; collaborating with people from different backgrounds prepared me for teamwork in real-world projects. I also valued the entrepreneurial spirit encouraged by the university — there’s a sense that you’re being trained not just to seek jobs but to create solutions.
Like many public universities in Nigeria, FUTO had its challenges. Infrastructure and facilities did not always keep pace with the growing student population, and strikes sometimes disrupted the academic calendar. These factors could be frustrating, but they also taught adaptability and patience. I love some of my forensic lecturers, they were well equiped with lecture notes that explains what my course was all about.
Yes, I would recommend FUTO, particularly to students who want a strong grounding in science, engineering, and technology, and who are prepared to develop resilience alongside their academic training. It may not always offer the smoothest journey, but it shapes you into someone who can thrive in complex and imperfect environments — which, in truth, is a strength in today’s world.
