at Federal University of Technology Owerri - FUTO

My experience at the Federal University of Technology Owerri was a mix of academic growth, personal development, and learning to adapt in a challenging environment. The university offers a solid foundation in technical and scientific fields, and many of the lecturers are knowledgeable and dedicated, especially in core departmental courses.

However, there were also areas that could be improved. Infrastructure was often stretched, and administrative processes—like registration or result processing—were sometimes delayed or disorganized. Like many public universities in Nigeria, industrial actions (strikes) occasionally disrupted the academic calendar, which could be frustrating.

On the positive side, FUTO gave me the chance to build resilience, think independently, and work with peers from different backgrounds. The student community is active and resourceful, and I had opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities and leadership roles, which helped shape my soft skills.

Overall, studying at FUTO was a meaningful part of my journey. It taught me not just academic content, but how to navigate systems, solve problems, and stay focused on long-term goals even in less-than-ideal conditions.
