Going to the university is many young Nigerians dream and I was one. My journey and experience in Caritas University was bitter sweet but when I look back now I feel like the school gave me it’s best even though I wanted more. Caritas University is strict on discipline. Being a religious body, the institution had strict rules and regulations that made it quite challenging to scale through easily.
The university was strictly boarding, meaning, students are only allowed to live in school. Students are to cook for themselves and do everything themselves, meanwhile you do not have permissions to leave the school premisses at will. It was quite difficult to acquire permission to go outside for grocery shopping or even to banks to get your tuition from your bank to pay the school. I once missed an examination because I was granted permission to get my tuition from the bank soon enough.
However, in general, the school teaching is good. There were good lecturers, teachers and spiritual mentors to help one scale through. Unlike many other private universities, Caritas is one who frowns on bribery, examination malpractices and indiscipline. To scale through and excel in be must put in the work. Which is the only way. I am grateful for the experience, ot shaped me to be who I am today. I have learnt to depend on no one, work hard, and keep pushing for the best.
For a person looking for somewhere with less distractions from academics and want where he/she can grow also spiritually, then Caritas University might be the best place. You can’t have mush social life in there.
