I loved the fact that it was a digital school where result where been access online. I loved that we where given opportunity to speak if the the higher up tried to extort from us and the fact that hygiene was the management top priority
View moreStudying medicine in the University of Calabar back in 1996 was a great experience. I really enjoyed learning about the workings of the human body and we had some great lecturers. However, we had to travel between campuses for lectures from other faculties in year one. In our clinical years we also had to travel across town to the teaching hospital and by the time we moved to the hostel beside the hospital, the hospital had started moving to the permanent site so the travelling continued.
Nevertheless, I had so many great colleagues in my course and other courses who made great friends. Then we had thriving Christian fellowships whose programmes I really enjoyed although I never got to be part of any
I think unical is a great school (kinda)😂 but lots of improvements could be done to make it even better and give students a better experience while they are there, like building larger classrooms to accommodate the student population and also more conducive hostels.
View moreI’m on my 300 level of study at Unical for medicine and surgery right now. The University of Calabar is a very intriguing institution, however its shortcomings seem to overshadow its positive qualities. It’s a great place to study because the surroundings are so tidy. Since there aren’t many lecture rooms for students at the school, the university must truly pay attention to their demands by making sure that facilities are being developed so that courses will be more comfortable. We all know that my program (Medicine and Surgery) is highly demanding on students, even though it occasionally offers a little bit of interest. Majority of the university’s lecturers, in my opinion, give the best to impact into students, whereas some simply turn a blind eye to students. The extracurricular activities that are offered at school are really intriguing, and they constantly introduce you to new people and allow you to interact with them.
View moreI’m a student of UNICAL studying medicine and surgery. This institution is a high-rated one for my course. Though lecture halls aren’t enough to accommodate students I feel if this need is met and proper security UNICAL will be a better place to study.
View moreI don’t really like the lecturers they don’t really teach well, and the lecture halls are choking. The hostels are not so good, the labs are poorly equipped, and the prices for the registration of courses are high.
View moreUNICAL is a good school but it’s pretty much lacking in some things. For instance, the lecture halls are not enough to house every student that is learning. Some of the lecture venues are not conducive enough for learning because it’s either too hot and without fans or rain leaks into it. Some of the hostels too are nothing to write home about and they’re not enough for the students. The state of security isn’t so great.
View moreThe hostel accommodation for medical students is good although not perfect there can be a lot of improvements
The facilities also can be improved and also our lecture schedules can be improved
The town is a great and small town with a wonderful weather and welcoming to outsiders and the transportation is great and cheap which enables you to get to your destinations easily and create ease of study
Unical might not have the best facilities or architecture but have produced some of the best in fields like medicine an alumni was part of the team that Created the Corona Virus Vaccine(go and verify)
View moreLearning is very effective and the lecturers deliver when it comes to teaching as they try to maximize what resources they have e.g handing out of lecture materials and recommending necessary books to study with. The downsides, however, include the bad conditions of some of the study halls. There is insufficient amount of seats and the halls are barely big enough to accommodate the number of students attending a particular lecture at once. There is also the problem of poorly functioning equipment. The fans do not work properly and it gets very uncomfortable trying to learn in such environment. Personally, I am bothered by the errors that sometimes occur during the grading of examination results in some courses. There have been cases of missing scripts or miscalculation of assessment or exam scores which consequently affects the final grade of the students involved. Correction of such happens by luck or after months of complaints. Apart from all these minor setbacks, I would totally recommend.
