If I’m not mistaken, it’s one of the top 20 schools in the nation. It has a number of flaws like majority of universities in the country, which keep it from receiving a higher ranking. There are considerable concerns regarding the school’s capacity to continue operating as a learning institution due to its frequently negligent financial management and very inconsistent leadership. Outside of school, life is great, especially when you consider how beautiful Calabar and its people are. I may sound biased as I am from the area but I’d recommend to people.

View moreThe university of Calabar is not all bad in my opinion, but if I am being honest, it’s bad. I used to stay at the hostel in my first year but I had to leave when I recovered from a 3-month stay in the hospital. I tried my best to maintain personal hygiene but the truth is it was like spraying perfume in a suck-out-well. My roommates were nothing to write home about, they were only contributing to my germaphobia nightmare. The school is good in terms of academics and college life but it would be great if the accommodations were at least, decent.
View moreI quite like my program but some Professors lack the enthusiasm to impact knowledge on the students, they hardly come to teach but give out study materials sometimes even a week before examinations. That can be quite jarring. Also, sometimes certain class buildings and seats aren’t enough to accommodate all the students(for that particular class) and some students have to stand the whole class as a result. Accommodation is not much of an issue as Campus is situated at the centre of town thereby making it easily commutable for students living on or off campus. One thing that could be improved in my opinion is the quality and standard of the buildings and classrooms. Enough seats should be provided according to the carrying capacity and number of students of a given class. That aside, student life is great. It could be a bit tedious sometimes due to alot of school work but I still enjoy it. UNICAL is not very International in my opinion. Only very few students from border countries attend. The career prospects are at an all time high as Linguists are in high demand in embassies, business and Education.
