Being a medical student in my university is very intense. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. With an intensive curriculum that will keep you very engaged academically there’s really not much going on socially apart from the annual student health week program organized by the student body. I like that my school has started building a system that would make it possible for medical students to finish their studies and graduate in record time instead of the usual situation where they end up staying like 2-3 years extra. I don’t like the daily schedule of lectures though. Lectures start by 7am and ends by 5pm mostly everyday. This makes it very hard for students especially those in clinical medicine to have a school – life balance. There’s literally no time for extra curricular activities which makes it hard for students to explore other options without it affecting their academics.
