I started university here in 2012 the year following a major earthquake in the city. The university really made up for the lack of social spaces in the city by boosting community spaces on campus and funding for club events which helped create a fantastic sense of community at the university.
View moreMy course immersed me deeply into my upcoming field very quickly. I felt like I was learning from experience constantly and inclusivity was considered very important within the course.
It was mentally and physically challenging. There were times when further support and communication were needed, but at the conclusion of the course I did succeed.
As a student coming from out of the city, accomodation options were numerous well situated for accessing the campus. They were, however, not cheap. The amenities and buildings were good.
On campus parking is not free and it can be difficult to get around. You may wish to consider public transport when commuting to and from campus.
View moreCanterbury university handled the drastic change that came with the pandemic. While my first and second years were not what I was expecting, having to study from home for a lot of it, the university did a good job in creating a welcoming campus and making sure everybody felt safe and comfortable. As a recent graduate I had a good experience here, learnt a lot with my degree and made a lot of friends.
View moreIt is the best university I found so many supportive and understanding professors. Lovely atmosphere.. amazing students. Good management and opportunities are given to the university. Making the explanation so detailed. So many programmes and clubs to join and interact to new people.
View moreUC is a big university with many opportunities. Courses do a reasonable job in terms of providing students with engaging learning content. However, there is a heavy focus on learning specific concepts compared to applying skills to a future work place. (e.g., too much time writing about concepts in a 6000 word report in APA 7 compared to actually practicing those concepts in the real world). More work opportunities/learning specific work related skills should have a higher focus at UC.
