My overall study experience at the University of Mauritius has been extremely challenging. From my perspective, some lecturers often come across as arrogant or ego-driven, and there were times when students felt openly threatened or intimidated. Mistakes, even those that arguably fall under the university’s responsibility, were sometimes met with penalties, and rules could feel inconsistent or decided on the fly. While the university rarely acknowledges its own oversights or technical glitches, students are almost always held strictly accountable for theirs. Experiencing this taught me resilience, vigilance, and how to navigate a system where the stakes feel unevenly distributed.

Reflecting on my time as a student at the University of Mauritius, I found it to be a rewarding journey filled with learning and personal growth. The campus atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, offering a unique blend of academic focus and island charm. The diversity among students enriched my experience, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration. Clubs and extracurricular activities added a dynamic layer to student life, though more structured career services could have enhanced internship opportunities.
The Media Arts program stood out for its interdisciplinary approach, covering everything from digital video production to game design. While the faculty was supportive and well-versed in their fields, access to cutting-edge tools could have been better. Administrative processes were occasionally slow, but they taught me resilience and time management. the university provided a strong foundation for both professional and personal development. I highly recommend it to students seeking a mix of academic excellence and cultural diversity in a picturesque setting.

As a fresh graduate of the BA (Hons) Media Arts program at the University of Mauritius, I can confidently say that my experience has been transformative. The program’s blend of theory and hands-on learning in areas like animation, cinematography, and graphic design prepared me well for the demands of the creative industry. The lecturers were knowledgeable and approachable, often going the extra mile to ensure we understood complex concepts. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on real-world applications, such as creating pitches and developing multimedia projects, which made the coursework engaging and relevant.
However, there were challenges. Some resources, like lab equipment and software, felt outdated compared to industry standards. Administrative inefficiencies occasionally caused delays in project approvals and scheduling. I would recommend this program to anyone passionate about media and arts who values both academic rigor and creative freedom.

Overall, I like my university; it offers many activities and clubs. The lectures are also very interesting and engaging, making me want to learn more about my field. I’m currently doing a BSc in biotechnology, and I love it.
