Studying Forensic Science at USM was a rewarding experience. The program is based at the Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan—quite a peaceful and green place. What stood out to me the most were the professors. They’re not only experts in their fields across Malaysia, but also super passionate and approachable, which made classes more engaging and insightful.
The learning style combines theory, lab work, tutorials, and discussions, so it never felt too one-dimensional. It kept things interesting and helped me apply what I learned in different ways. Campus life strikes a good balance between serious and fun, thanks to a supportive student community. Even though it’s a small campus without bus services, it’s walkable with plenty of sidewalks, and everything you need is right outside the gate—food, groceries, and more. Plus, it’s only about 20 minutes from the airport, which is a bonus.
Overall, it’s a solid program if you’re looking for a hands-on, well-rounded forensic science education in a calm, community-driven environment.
View moreI genuinely appreciate USM, Kelantan. It is unlike any other university as it is in a very secluded and conservative state within Malaysia. As a uni student, you’d expect to have lots of fun and have exposures to multiple events. Life at USMkk is quiet and peaceful. There are events but they aren’t like any other university. However, you learn to make do with stuff and find happiness in the small things. It helps you to understand the true meaning of friendships and how you can make joy out of nothingness. Thus, I really do recommend USM. It has helped me realize my potential to adapt to situations and new places. The overall environment is great and the courses are worth it. The staff has really been accomodating. There are few downsides, such as the lack of community awareness and help for new students but that gap is slowly being bridged. In my 4 years here, I have seen USMkk grow and I’m sure it’s got a lot left.
