The University of Nairobi remains a leading institution in Kenya and the region. It performs well in many global indicators, particularly in terms of research output, employer perceptions, and subject strength. Its policies and institutional efforts around diversity and inclusion are substantive and increasingly visible.
However, some of its long-term challenges include: ensuring that quality keeps pace with scale; modernizing infrastructure; ensuring that inclusivity is not merely a policy but a lived experience in all departments; addressing resource constraints; and mitigating socio-economic inequities in students’ experiences.
