A Diverse Experience with Room for Improvement

Overall, my time at the University of Nairobi was an enriching experience, though there were areas I think could be improved. The faculty is knowledgeable, with professors who are passionate about their subjects. The field trips, like the one to Voi, were particularly valuable for hands-on learning. However, the academic environment could be more engaging and interactive in certain courses.

One thing that stood out was the diversity of the student body and the opportunities for networking. The university has a strong presence in Nairobi and offers numerous events for students to get involved in beyond just academics, like Eco Advocacy, which I joined. It’s a good place for anyone interested in environmental studies.

What I liked most was the emphasis on applied learning through field research projects. However, the program could benefit from more up-to-date resources, especially in areas like remote sensing and GIS.

Overall, I would recommend the University of Nairobi for students passionate about environmental conservation, but I’d advise future students to take full advantage of the extracurricular opportunities and seek internships early on for practical experience.
