When I was there, the University of Eldoret had only recently received its charter to become an independent institution, just about seven years prior. At the time, it ranked among the top 10 institutions in Kenya offering programs in Agriculture. With its new charter, the university began investing more in the Education and Hospitality faculties, though the Science faculty faced challenges due to the high number of students admitted.
In recent years, with a change in top leadership, the university has grown significantly and is now recognized among the leading institutions for Science and Business programs. It has also introduced a School of Nursing, further expanding its academic reach. While it is still building capacity to match the region’s leading Engineering schools, the University of Eldoret has consistently proven its commitment to growth and excellence.
