My journey in the Università di Bologna has been that of Diplomatic and International Studies, bachelor degree of 3 years. Personally, I would highly recommend this course (in its english curricula) as it is inter-faculties, encompassing that of philosophy, history, political sciences and much more. Even though change for better is still auspicable, it is already quite forward in really giving an international look at the world, putting aside the eurocentrism that is still too common in these subjects and widening your mind, both thanks to highly qualified professors (whose expertise comes from all over the world) and a rich offer of opportunities to study abroad. To be fully honest, I didn’t study at the Bologna campus (the main one), but in the smaller city of Forlì: while it is not the greatest “uni-city” per se, the campus is a very livable space, with lots of green and activities which makes routine feel less like it. All in all, I would recommend this course to those interested in an open approach to international and diplomatic relations, other than the history that shaped today’s present and academic background on the possibility to solve it (but for the practical side, it is still lacking); whether you’re aiming at being a diplomat, an ambassador, a politician or work in humanitarian aid, this bachelor will give you some solid foundations, and leave open the possibility to specialize afterwards.
