Starting University is a very daunting experience. A new start you aren’t ready for at that age, but for most people it ends up being the best times of their lives. My experience at UCC was no different. I was a shy kid leaving Secondary School, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was a homebird at heart, and turned down a full sports scholarship to Trinity College Dublin because i was too scared. This is a decision I regretted for a year when I ended up getting injured an missing the vast majority of my first year of university homebound, bouncing between a wheelchair and crutches (how ironic). My next 3 years however turned out to be incredible. I found myself as an intellectual and as a person. I grew up and matured in ways I couldn’t of foreseen. Upon seeing college, I embarked on a 2 and a half year adventure working and exploring the US. A dream i developed during my time in UCC and owe it to UCC for developing me as a person who would embark on such a journey (alone i may add).
