Overall, the University of Sumatera Utara provides an excellent and conducive learning environment. The faculty implements a 40-60 strategy, which means 50% theory and 50% real-world case studies. This approach fosters students’ creativity and stimulates critical thinking. However, one drawback of this university is the lack of collaboration with companies, making it somewhat challenging for graduates to find jobs. In terms of faculty members, like most universities, it has experienced professors in their respective fields, and their delivery of material is clear and easily understood by students. Campus life is very enjoyable, with complete facilities, and another significant advantage of this university is the strong appreciation for freedom of expression.

View moreThis university cannot be compared to other state universities in Java Island. Many high school students struggling to enter this university was mainly because it was cheap. I was a bit disappointed when I was studying there. First was because of the quality of the teachers. Even my high school teachers taught better than they did. They just came, talked, gave too many things to write down on our notebooks, and left. That’s it. The second was regarding the facilities. There was no room to do something like to give us skills. I remember there was only a computer room which was not used that often. And a brand new chemistry lab. But a very small one. I was disappointed because the passing grade to this campus that time was amazing. And I felt “zonk”. Maybe not the same with other faculties. I heard Faculty of Engineering was not that bad. And, yes, the university library was great. I also don’t know the present condition. Hope it gets better.
