I am doing my MBBS internship in Jubilee Mission Medical College under KUHS.
Basically in my college, there’s barely any campus but being situated in the heart of the city, we have a whole city to explore. Since there’s barely any campus, we are more focused in academics and in terms of academics , JMMC is one of the top colleges in Kerala and one of the top 10 private institutes in India itself. And KUHS is also one of the top universities academically in India as well.
But under KUHS, we do not get much support to get paid the same stipend as the government colleges despite the order from the National Medical Council stating equal pay for all medical colleges under the same University. But such a scene is common across any medical colleges/universities in India.
Most hospitals here are unstaffed, underpaid and overworked and the patient load is dumped on the nurses, interns and JRs. So a need for equal pay is essential as we are also taking the 24, 48 or even 72 hour shifts just like the government colleges too.
Overall I’d rate my university a 3/5 which is good when comparing the usual 1/5s or 2/5s seen here in India with the best medical universities rated at 4/5.
View moreI have studied the MBBS course from this university. It is the only health university in Kerala. The university does put effort into making good, matured and skilled professionals. The staff are very helpful and caring.
My academic experience was great. The course can become hectic. To soothe it we have extra curricular activities in sports and arts which makes the college life more relaxing and vivid.
I would rate my course 4.5/5.
The social life experience in my college was 4/5.
