AU has a world wide recognition, particularly in the academia of the UK, US and EU and Africa and Asia. The University was established by the British Raj in 1930s. Post independence, the Govt of India has been deeply involved with the University in Nuclear research and other state led scientific projects. The department of Engineering and Medical sciences is one of the prominent pillars of the University and well recognized in India and abroad. However, when it comes to Arts, I must say that the current management must focus on reforming the Economics, Politics, public policy, sociology and liberal arts area. The curriculum is outdated and not competitive in the present times. The University needs new faculty members in addition to the pervious senior faculty. Together there can be a positive change. We must understand that the state of AP has AU as the only Public University and needs to ensure the Arts department addresses the need to produce more experts and graduates in the mentioned fields of study. Nevertheless, the infrastructure and facilities need serious maintenance and upgrades. It would be a pity to see such a vast facility and land go to waste. The future of the University is very promising in scientific research that can contribute to the prosperity of the Govt of India as a whole. The human resource development in the fields of arts needs to be taken seriously by the Govt of A.P given the separation of Telangana and a struggling economy. Overall, it has a good vibe and is worth every effort and penny studying here.
