My programme has been both challenging and rewarding. What stood out most for me are the lectures who are warm, approachable, and genuinely invested in their students’ growth. Classes are delivered in English and designed to be interactive, which makes learning more engaging and collaborative.
As a foreign student, I quickly realized that there isn’t much structured support to help you settle in. You have to be deliberate about asking questions, seeking help, and building your own network. This challenge inspired us to create a student network for people from my continent — a community that offers guidance, connection, and encouragement. We are even linking this network with embassies to help new students transition more smoothly and feel at home as they study.
Overall, the programme has given me both knowledge and resilience. I would recommend it to students who are open to learning, growing, and contributing to a supportive community while studying abroad.
View moreAs a foreign student at the University of Debrecen, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The university provides exceptional support for international students, from visa assistance to orientation programs. Getting to Debrecen is relatively easy, with a direct train from Budapest. The main building is iconic, surrounded by lush greenery, making it a great study environment. Although many courses, especially in the sciences, are offered in English, I found learning some Hungarian very beneficial for daily life. The city is student-friendly with good public transport, making it easy to get around. The campus has a diverse student body, and the community is welcoming. Highly recommended for students interested in STEM fields
