University of Ioannina - UOI (reviews)

My university is inside a ” campus” and even tho there is a lot of beaury in the trees that surround it, the buildings are very outdated, graffities everywhere and not the creative kind. I am satisfied with the teachers and the classes, I’m a freshmen and I am not sure but i think they are doing a great job, minus some teachers that don’t even APPEAR to the lessons and leave them to a substitute teachers. Sorry for my English, it’s my second language!!! But there is a chance that my university can be merged with another university, causing our degree to lose more of it’s value. We have to get masters in my country( for my major which is preschool education) because we can’t claim a job, due to the competition.

UOI gave me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a researcher. I graduated as an archaeologist and despite the fact that the programme itself was lacking, I can say that the communication with certain professors gave me the chance to study hard in order for me to achieve my goals and also created for me opportunities for collaboration with many excavating projects. I can say that all the pros outshine the cons of the lacking at the professor facility or even at the programma itself.

I had spent four lovely years in the University of Ioannina. Despite it is located in a small city, the city offers a good college life. The university gives great education and many opportunities for the futures.

Overall the level of the students and the studies programmes are quite high; you really get the chance to immerse yourself in the topic of the studies and learn a lot, not just touching the surface. Some of the professors will give you a chance to work closer to them, but you need to show them also the will. The campus is beautiful, but full of dogs and the facilities are sometime not the best. The student restaurant/caffeterias are very nice and they have quality food. The university itself is a 20 minutes from the city center, which on one hand creates an appropriate environment for the university to be a community and not gather random people/outsiders as other Greek universities located in the city center, but transportation is bit tough after midnight until early morning as it counts only on public buses and taxis. It’s next to the university hospital and they’re a lot of student clubs and teams in the university, such as AEGEE-Ioannina which are really cool. The city is a pure student city, very alive in the winter.

My opinion is that my university is a great option although it does not belong to a big city. It has many students with new buildings and fully equipped laboratories. However, it has not very good opportunities for the Erasmus program and international cooperations.

I was a student at the University of Ioannina in the mathematics department. The University of Ioannina is characterized by its organization. It has campuses for student accommodation, a university gym as well as a restaurant where all students can eat.

I completed my doctoral thesis at the University of Ioannina from the end of 2008 on Balkan historiography and literature and my second master’s degree in philosophy (in 2014). Prior to my decision to continue my studies at the University of Ioannina, I was there as a student under the Erasmus program. During my stay as an Erasmus student I realized that the University of Ioannina provides students with everything they need to acquire the necessary knowledge. A nice, large campus with many buildings, a hospital, hotplates, gyms (two), a stadium, an incredible library and free meals. The fireplaces were new, with very fast internet, with washing machines, dryers, huge kitchens with refrigerators, ovens etc. For any of these students we did not pay extra. My lessons were at a very good level and my professors are among the best scientists in their fields. My experience with the University of Ioannina was more than satisfactory.

The best part of the University of Ioannina is undoubtedly the Library. There is a huge Library, with hundreds of books, very well organized in order to help you find what you are looking for, as soon as possible.What is more, the environment is very friendly so you can spend your day there studying, using your own or even the Library’s computer. There is also a social network provided.
In addition, in every department, there are highly educated professors and people working at the secretary of the department willing to guide you, help you and answer to all of your questions. The books, projects, and teachers are very helpful and they played an important role in my education.
I was studying at the University of Ioannina 4 years, and I have to admit that it was an amazing experience.
