Panteion University is one of the few universities in Greece that acquires comprehensive knowledge of most of the necessary subjects that one needs to enter the labour market. I am studying in the department of Public Administration and so far, I have received a lot of knowledge about the subject of my studies. The teachers of the department are excellent and teach in the best way. However, the facilities of the buildings are quite old and the teachers need more modern teaching equipment.
View moreDuring these 4 years of study at the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University, I liked that I studied the practices of drawing and implementing various lines related to the political, social, economic and international sector. As a future political and social scientist, the courses I attended gave me the basis to apply in practice the theoretical approaches I was taught. However, there is a need for a master’s degree in this field because politics – and society – are constantly changing and a well-informed political scientist must always be trained with the necessary supplies.
As far as teachers are concerned, the department basically has educated scientists on their subject with the intention of helping you to become a globally informed scientist without blinders. Of course, there are exceptions with professors belonging to political parties that do not provide you with knowledge but actually propagate partisanly, but this is a big problem of Greek universities. The University also provides a very good library for both Greek and European data with a number of books on all subjects of economic, social, political and international sciences.
The program offers a balanced and comprehensive education, as it employs qualified professors, who aim to promote the value of the science of Psychology and encourage the full involvement of students. The program follows a model, which is based on theory, research and practice. It, also, offers the possibility to choose between elective courses and build your own path within your curriculum.
View moreThis department of Sociology is the first in the county. It is a well-known department, as is the Panteion University. The professors and the courses are really interesting and help you to understand this science in the core. Courses are divided into four sectors: General Sociology, Neohellenic Society, Criminology, Social Morphology. I followed the sector of General Sociology which is constituted of courses regarding Social Theory, Philosophy, Political Science, Qualitative and Quantitive Methods, Epistemology, Sociology of Health and Religion, Gender studies and many others. This sector, and the department in general, makes you think multi-dimensionally in order to become a Social Scientist with critical thinking. An important con is an administration and the facilities of the university which are not representative of a well-known university. It is very difficult to contact reception because is open only one day of the week and they never use the phone. The campus is old and dirty. As far as it concerns career prospects, the Sociology of Panteion University offers you knowledge in many fields but you are not specialized, so in order to find a job you need to take a postgraduate degree or seminars/specialization in a more specific field.
View moreMy overall experience was very good! The Bachelor in Social Anthropology had a variety of subjects you could choose from (year 3-4) and most of the professors love their job and so they transmit their passion to their students. Everyone is encouraged to state their opinion and bring new ideas to the table.
On the other hand, the classes could be better and cleaner (with the exception of the library-it is already perfect!).
I think your experience here will vary depending on the department you’re studying in. I’m currently studying in the Department of Media Communication and Culture and I have to say that so far I’m really enjoying my time here! I find the professors and their subjects very interesting, as well as the overall environment very friendly! If you wish to learn a bit more about social media culture I would recommend this department!
View moreI like it so much, it was my first choice and I did not regret it at all. I like the teaching methods and teachers themselves. The atmosphere between students is very good. Actually, it feels like we are a huge family.
View moreIt was a good university with interesting lessons and very talented professors. It was also a beautiful place with a garden, which seems like universities abroad. Unfortunately, I believe that the departments and lessons are more theoretical and the career opportunities are less.
