The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) offers an outstanding academic experience. The university is known for its high quality of research and its long history, which is also evident in the studies. The lecturers are very experienced and the range of courses is diverse, especially in the humanities and natural sciences. The courses are challenging, but if you are motivated, you can really learn a lot here.
The campus is located in the heart of Munich and is beautiful – the proximity to the English Garden is a huge plus if you need a break from studying. The student culture is also lively and there are many opportunities to get involved in student organizations and make new friends.
One disadvantage, however, is the housing situation in Munich. It can be very difficult to find an affordable apartment near the university. In addition, the libraries are often overcrowded, especially during exam periods. Nevertheless, I would recommend the LMU to anyone who is looking for a first-class university in Germany and can handle the challenges of a big city.
