It was officially opened in 2001, recommended by Bremen University and Rice University in Houston Texas to set up an international and highly selective private reseach university to focus on science and engineering program with English as a Language instruction. It has many accreditation since 1999 till 2010. Currently, there are 1244 students from 111 countries with 76 employed professors and 28 freelancers.
The university focuses on three general topics that combines research and teaching equally namely:
# Mobility (information, goods, people)
# Health (bioactive substances to focus on)
# Diversity (modern society)
Also included in Jacobs University portfolio is the cooperation with different universities all over the world as their exchange partners. In line with these, its objective is to encourage talented people, young in any nationality, religion or background to take lead and responsible roles in the future for a peaceful development of humanity.
