

Founded in 2002, the International Max Planck Research School of Marine Biology has been a stepping stone for first class junior scientist. It is a M. Sc./Ph.D. graduate program for highly qualified national and international students. The university are educating new generation of marine scientist, giving them tools to better understand microbial life and what affects our biosphere. Some of the fundamental issues that involves in research in studying marine micro biology are:
• Evolution of life
• Global climate change
• Fate of pollutants
• Marine food webs
• Biodiversity of the ocean
Mar-Mic is a joint program of Jacobs University of Bremen, Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (MPI-MM), University of Bremen and Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).
