ESCP EMIB marketing scam / hype

ESCP Business School is apparently lauded as one of EU’s most prestigious business school. The Executive Master in International Business (EMIB) is a relatively young degree (5-6 years) and covers a range of topics related to strategy, business development, leadership, marketing etc.

My employer has paid 70% of my fees hence my commitment to complete the course. I will graduate with an average of 90%+ and have attended all on campus seminars offered.

In general, my opinion is that the EMIB should be avoided by all who consider their time precious and is seeking rigor in their academic / learning pursuits. The EMIB, and ESCP in general, is aggressively marketed and the value proposition they advocate fall far from what is delivered.

Academic standard: The course is extremely dumbed down and so thin in academic rigor, insight or relevancy that I honestly cannot see how the EMIB will be sustainable for a long period of time apart from the false marketing hype ESCP use to advocate the course.

Co-hort: The co-hort consist mostly of very young, overly ambitious students who wants to primarily leverage the reputation of ESCP and get a very easy Master certificate (note this is NOT a degree certificate) to promote themselves in the market place. On top of that, cheating is rampant where students actively and unashamedly uses social media to cheat on exams that are already laughable in terms of how easy it is to get close to a perfect score with a little bit of work.

Supporting-staff: Here I feel ESCP lives up to their reputation. The supporting staff has been very accessible and the platforms used and IT infrastructure works as expected. The only criticism I have is on the access to academic literature. The library and their offered digital services lack in supplying a wide range of resources. This makes it very difficult to promote wide reading for the serious student.

Faculty: Again, I would not consider the faculty staff as established academics. They create the impression of established industrial executives who want to use ESCP as base to give credibility to their practice. Maybe my impression on them is biased due to the lack of academic rigor and their lack of interest pushing the co-hort to learn something. That being said, the material they use is mostly sourced from google, Havard Business Review (HBR) and outdated articles.

Campuses: The campuses are really old and dilapidated. If I compare it to other European and US universities I have visited, then I get a very poor impression on ESCP.
