The one thing I can recommend is that university have so many opportunities for self study, but the lectures are very bad and unnecessary.
View moreI’m studying B.Sc. Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at RWTH Aachen. I’m currently in my 3rd semester. Although i find our subjects pretty hard to pass, i believe that this is the sign of quality education. I have troubles with some topics but our lecturers are always open to help and they also arrange online meetings to discuss our difficulties. What i also like is that you will have to choose a specific branch of your study after 2nd year, so that you’ll be more focused on your future area of expertise
View moreRWTH, at least for the micro and nano electronic studies have one of the best research facilities, and one can have a truly great learning experience, but… strangely enough this is not what one gets early in their bachelor studies.
Some of the professors can be slightly cold or unempathetic, and some of you may suffer through certain exams.
View moreThe university ranks high because of its research and amount of publications; when you actually are inside, you realize why: it is the only thing they care about. Teaching and pedagogic skills are non-existent, no practical experiences at all, and all student support services are so neglected that workers dont care anymore.
View moreThis university is extremely hierarchical, and students are at the very bottom of the scheme. If you dare to study here, expect no respect comming from professors, lecture assistants, administrative staff, etc. Furthermore, the university heavily “encourages” segregation of students and employees to interact only with people from “their same background”. In short, they will “encourage” you to take lectures given by professors from the same region you come, and when looking from supervisors for seminar, projects or thesis, they will “encourage” the same. Later if you dont follow this “recomendation” and complain about unfair or wrong behaviour from these employees, they will point out that you didnt followed their “recomendation”. Really disgusting place to stay overall.
View moreThe academic level is very high and the university offers a lot of opportunities for national and international students. The city is beautiful too. In my opinion, they should try to convince more female national students for MINT, but this is subjective.
View moreI think that RWTH is for your professional future as an engineer a perfect choice. In Germany RWTH is one of the best university for technical studies and also Germany companies know that, what give you advantages in the future career. Further Aachen is a city with a lot of students and so student life in Aachen is great. The food and drinks are pretty cheap and there are a lot of student activities going on. On the other hand, at RWTH there is a very long exam period, so there is not really a semester break in-between and a high failure rate. But the effort worse it.
