The professors are good, sometimes excellent. The atmosphere is friendly. The librarians are great.
The administration is mediocre.
The website is a complete mess.
Some secretaries don’t even bother to include the relevant intranet link in their emails. You sometimes wonder if they even know how to write an email. Basically, this university is 25 years behind the times in terms of teaching organization. There’s likely a problem with financial and human resources, but these seem to be misused.
Some departmental secretaries seem to have contempt for the students and sometimes send emails that could be illegal. The ombudsman, whom I contacted five times in a row, didn’t take my case seriously. We can only commend the teaching staff and, more generally, everyone who has physical contact with the students for doing their best in such a mediocre and discouraging administrative environment.
My four months at Rennes 2 University were an enriching experience. The international exchange program provided a unique opportunity to immerse myself in French culture and academic life. The courses were challenging yet stimulating, and the professors were knowledgeable and supportive. While the language barrier presented initial challenges, the welcoming nature of the French people and the university’s language support programs made the transition smoother. Overall, my time at Rennes 2 was a valuable experience that broadened my horizons and enriched my personal and academic growth.
