The Université de Lyon is based in Lyon and Saint-Étienne. It is a centre for higher education and a world-class site of excellence as proven by the IDEX label which was awarded to the university in 2017. The university has twelve member institutions, 17 doctoral schools and 24 associated institutions. Currently 140 000 students are enrolled in programmes at the Université de Lyon, 20 000 of whom are international students taking part in exchange programmes, study abroad, or degree programmes. The university aims to offer outstanding training and research opportunities in 5 major scientific fields: Biohealth, Humanities, Chemistry, Engineering, and Digital Technology.
