I studied at Université Bordeaux Montaigne as a foreign student. The professors were quite nice, especially since some of them were also from other countries. However, you do need a solid level of French to fully integrate, as French people generally expect you to keep up. The campus is not too big and is easy to navigate, making it feel quite cozy. The classes are not overcrowded, and the library is well-equipped.
In conclusion, my experience was positive overall. I only wish I had taken more chances because universities offer many opportunities — you just need to seize them!
View moreI did an Erasmus exchange programm at Université Bordeaux-Montaigne for 5 months. I quite enjoyed the city and getting to know international students, however, I have the feeling that the most important part of the things I learned were from outside of the University. There, the courses were not really useful, with variating schedules that did not enable me to have a stable routine. Also, some teachers were late for their classes.
View moreI believe people who frequent this University are mostly nice, and not too much competitve against each other. The social trait cannot be ignored, it is always good to have a good surrounding.
However, the administration part of this uni, be it to the organization of your courses and compositions of classes, or even online courses and exercises can be sometimes messy. But I think it is because there have been recent educational reforms which may slow down the organization of teachers and the administration.
Most teachers really like their job, if you ask them questions they will reply you the best they could and are always willing to help you. The University also employs foreign teachers, which I think helps broaden your mind a bit.
Globally it is a good school. Unfortunately organization problems really ruin it sometimes. But I believe it will get better in the next few years.
