A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
The large range of courses, the mandatory exchanges around the world, the international professors, the associations, the opportunities, the quality of the teaching, the different mandatory internships every year are some of many advantages this school provides
View moreThis is a really good business private school. Teachers come from various countries, the level is good and the programme is really rich, from the first year to last year. The student life is dynamic and the new campus in Paris is really cool. The general mood is friendly, ambitious and international.
View moreIt is an amazing university which proposes many different things. This university is not only about teaching us “scholar” subjects (even though it is very competent in this area), it is also a lot teaching about ourselves, with personal development courses for example. The associative part teaches us a lot too. I will definitely recommend it because it is a great experience to live, and the studies are really great;
View moreThis university is great for several reasons. The mainstream courses such as macro-economy, accounting etc, are good. But the other courses make it even greater, they put forward the work in team as a base for your professional career. Thus students go through courses such as cultural diversity or drama, which enable them both to know themselves (their strengths, their weaknesses related to their work), and how to work with others, taking into account their self-knowledge. As soon as you start the course in the school you get in touch with it.
The teachers and the staff are sympathetic, as whenever you have an issue you will have someone to help you.
I chose IESEG because it was the best one I could get after my High-school graduation, it is a great school with great campuses. However in my opinion, one of the main things that are forwarded by the school, the cultural diversity, is overrated. I mean, I sure have met a lot of french people coming from all over the world, but in term of real foreigners, it is hard to approach them, I think they are a bit isolated.
however, I am having great moments and memories in this school and this problem is the only one I could recall.
IESEG is a Business school gathering good professors, promoting diversity and ambition.
Student life is great and the knowledge provided prepares students to a promising professional career.
I would definitely recommend IESEG to students looking for a complete, professionalizing and enriching school education.
I’m currently a 2nd year student. I must admit that I’m surprised by how cool this school is, I’m grateful to have been accepted here. People are warm and very welcoming. If you have to choose one business school, I advise you to look at this one.
View moreI like to work here, a lot of diversity of courses but also culture
Interesting approach to business
Small classes which permit a better accompaniment during our 5 years in the school
The associative world in IESEG is really a great experience and will permit to every student to have a different approach to work
I loved the way the University has beautiful inculcated and accommodated ethnicity and culture of all background. The courses they have, the societies they have built resonates around to build dignified and responsible citizens of tomorrow.
View moreThis school put forward cultural diversity. During the first year you even have a course on it. You also need to do at least one semester of study in a foreign university as an exchange student and 6 months of internship in a foreign country in order to have your diploma.
You also have to do activities which are mandatories with international students.
Finally, 82% of the professors are not French and there are 2600 international students in the two campus who represent more than 100 nationalities.
All of these aspects allow you to improve your cultural knowledge and intelligence.
Now, I am personally more confident than before when I meet international people as I understand better their culture and way of living.
