What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Great international Master in Management

The program is amazing for any student who wants to go out of their comfort zone, adapt to change, and discover different campuses in Europe. There are specializations in 60 fields spread all over the campuses. It will enable you to develop interpersonal skills in addition to managerial skills. I highly recommend it for curious and ambitious students who dream big.

    Top International Business School

I highly recommend ESCP to anyone who is smart, driven, and wants to work in an international environment. First, top companies regularly recruit from ESCP which allowed to land an internship which transitioned to a full -time role. Second, I was able to study at two campuses (Paris and Berlin) and because of this I received a diploma from both countries which made applying for visas much more straight forward. Finally, it was insipidity to work with other like minded students and I made connections that will last the entirety of my professional career. If you want go to a top school and study in multiple countries, ESCP is the place to go!

2 years of learning and making new connections :)

I joined ESCP Master in Management program after completing another Master at Sciences Po. My objective was to diversify my knowledge and to acquire strong skills in Corporate Finance.

Needless to say, after 2 years spent in the ESCP MiM, my goals were more than met.
I had the opportunity to study on the London Campus and Paris Campus of ESCP, blending with students from dozens of nationalities and who were coming from pretty unique academic backgrounds.

During 3 semesters (out of a total of 4), I was able to choose specialization and elective courses to customize my academic journey according to my professional goal. Specifically, I chose specializations in Corporate Finance and Investment banking, taught by people with both impressive theoretical knowledge and hands on professional experience.

I also completed my second year of the program by doing an apprenticeship, which allowed me to acquire professional experience, completing the theoretical knowledge I was acquiring in my classes.

During those two years, I also got involved in ESCP’s student life by becoming a student ambassador as well as by joining student societies, which have brought me the joy of meeting new people and working on topics that motivate me.

Overall, my experience at ESCP has even exceeded my expectations, and I am more than glad that this is the university i chose among other ones.

    MiM and unique experiences

Studying at ESCP Business School is truly a unique experience.
With six campuses across Europe, it offers infinite learning opportunities. I’m currently nearing the end of my first year in the Master in Management programme, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it so far.

My journey has already taken me through two countries – with two more to come. Of course, the experience comes with its fair share of challenges: moving, building new friendships, adapting to different cultures, and adjusting to a new life. But all of that contributes to personal growth, and for me, the positives far outweigh the difficulties.

One of the highlights of this year was a seminar at the European Parliament in Brussels. Some of us, myself included, had the chance to speak publicly in front of hundreds of fellow students, right there in the actual parliament hemicycle. It was not only a proud and enriching moment but also a fantastic opportunity to grow our public speaking skills and confidence.

Overall, ESCP offers a lot, academically, professionally, and personally. The key is to embrace the opportunities and actively create your own experience.

    Great experience!

Doing the Master in Management at ESCP has been a life-changing experience for me.
The things that I liked the most about it are:
-International environment: being able to meet and collaborate with people from many different nationalities was very enriching. On top of that, having studied in multiple campuses helped me grow both personally and professionally.
-Career service: ESCP has a broad range of activities organised on a weekly basis, going from in-house events to company visits (including case studies, presentations, etc.). This allowed me to find a job even before graduating.

On top of that, I’ve been able to connect with many brilliant students and build strong relationships with them.
So, to summarise, doing my master studies at ESCP has been a great experience in all aspects of my life!

    Great international experience

The ESCP Master in Management is a great programme because there are students from all over the world. We get to go to different campuses like Berlin, London and Paris. The faculty is top-notch and we can do several specialisations.
I also like the flexibility of the courses you can choose and the gap semesters or gap year. You can take up to 4 gap semesters if you want to increase your work experience before you graduate.

    Great experience learning experience

The university itself is quite cool, plenty of campuses across Europe and many international partnerships. Would definitely recommend it (keeping in mind that it’s quite expensive). I did the Paris and Madrid campuses which were great.

    International Sales Managament

Studying at ESCP was a great joy. I studied at the Berlin Campus and spent a few weeks in Paris. I enjoyed studying with people from all around the world. The professors were highly skilled, and overall, I would say that ESCP offers a lot of opportunities. Like at every university, I experienced some organisational issues, but overall I would rate my experience as very high.

    Quite good

My opinion about ESCP is quite different from the opinions of my classmates.
The reason why is because I don’t really like the subjects, which means that I don’t enjoy the academic aspect of the school.
It shouldn’t be an influence because it might be my taste, but other than that I love everything about the school
I was able to meet so many new people that come from France but also from other European countries which was very exciting as an experience especially in that age.
The students life is also great, but there is also one thing that I disliked about the program even though I chose it, and it’s the fact that we have to move from a campus to another in different cities and countries for three years

My 3 bachelor years in ESCP

I completed the Bachelor in Management at ESCP, and the experience was transformative. Starting in Paris, I gained a strong foundation in business fundamentals. The second year in Berlin focused on digital innovation and entrepreneurship, while the final year in Madrid emphasized strategic management and consulting.
The program’s international aspect is its biggest strength. Moving to a new city each year helped me develop adaptability and cultural awareness. The professors were top-notch, bringing a mix of academic rigor and practical insights. However, the frequent relocations were challenging and required careful planning and time management. Overall, the diverse experiences and the strong alumni network have been invaluable for my career.
    LOVED IT!
