During my undergraduate studies in Istanbul Campus of IFA Paris i have faced a multitude of false promises that unmotivated and discouraged me as a learner. The quality of education i was ambitious to get was dropped by the teachers with low language proficiency, extremely small campus made of 7 classrooms and absolute lack of a student community. The number of on-campus students taking the same course never went higher than 10 people, and sometimes i was the only person in a classroom. Students were constantly denied of their residence permits and student affairs were incompetent to help them. At some point the university seemed like a money-laundry. The excessive advertisement was in sharp contrast with the actual studying environment. But as my friends and i were constantly bringing our issues up with the administration throughout the years, more professional teachers were hired and schedules were redesigned. The machinery in atelier almost always worked. The curriculum for BA Fashion Design was always irrelevant, inaccurate and ill-cited. As I started working in luxury fashion i realized that this industry is indeed a lot about advertising and my fashion school just approached education in the way that’s fashionable.
