at HEC Paris

I recently completed my year in the Master in Management (MiM) programme at HEC Paris as an international student. While the academic standard of the professors and the caliber of the student peer group is alright, the program is severely hindered by deep-seated operational and administrative inefficiencies. I have even noticed several professors leave and complain heavily about the administrative system during the year and chose to go to competitors like LBS. This caused HEC to lose a lot of their top talent and left us fee paying students stranded. A primary concern is the recent, aggressive increase in tuition fees, which jumped from €55,000 to about €75,000. For a premium fee structure of this magnitude, students expect seamless institutional support. Instead, the ground-level administration operates on a rigid, unresponsive framework that struggles with basic daily logistics. It is highly frustrating for both students and faculty when frontline staff routinely fail to execute fundamental tasks, such as properly booking and securing lecture rooms for scheduled classes.The institutional culture frequently feels indifferent to international student feedback, treating critical operational failures as baseline noise rather than urgent issues to resolve. While the HEC Paris brand and legacy network still hold some value perhaps only temporarily, the current mismatch between the premium pricing and the substandard service delivery makes it difficult to justify the overall return on investment (ROI) in its current state.
