École nationale supérieure des mines de Saint-Étienne or ENSMSE was founded in 1816 and it is one of the graduate engineering schools which trains engineering to excel through a range of courses and different fields of research. It is one of the oldest and industry-oriented schools in France. Its motto is Operta naturae inveniunt munera which means they update the hidden works of nature. The school supports business development and plays important role in supporting excellence and innovation. In 2013, the École des Mines Saint-Étienne signed for gender equality in higher education and research institutions and offered annual awareness-raising and training programs at its destination. The school produces PhDs engineers mainly in the fields of engineering science, biology and health, computer science, image processing, signal and vision.
