I studied Mechanical Engineering at Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) and completed my BSc degree in 2015. Overall, my experience was valuable and shaped my foundational technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
The university offers a strong engineering curriculum, and the lab sessions gave us hands-on exposure to real-world applications. The campus is calm and green, providing a good environment for study. I also appreciated the sense of community among students and the passion of some instructors who truly cared about our learning.
At the time of my studies, there were issues with the consistency of course delivery, some instructors lacked proper engagement, and lab equipment was often outdated or limited. Administrative services were sometimes slow and frustrating, especially regarding scheduling and student support.
Yes, I would recommend ASTU, especially for students pursuing engineering and science degrees in Ethiopia. The university is growing and improving, and for motivated students, it can be a great launchpad.
