I have been studying aeronautical engineering at the Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture. The whole programme at the faculty level is outdated and outbalanced, while the faculty is one of the hardest in the country. Some courses (Design elements 1,2) are sometimes especially hard to pass due to bad professors and their (un)willingness to cooperate and help students. Around 50% of students quit the faculty in the first 3 years, and 95% of students prolong their studies for at least 1 year. Regarding the aeronautical programme, professors and assistants are excellent. However, some courses are repeating themselves through the years and you end up listening to the same thing twice or thrice. The infrastructure and equipment are outdated and mostly irrelevant to modern applications.
There are plenty of options to join student associations (EUROAVIA Zagreb, FSB Racing Team, etc.) and sport sections. Generally speaking, student life is exceptional in Zagreb.
To sum up, the faculty and programme are really hard to finish, but once you do there are not many good employment options, as the industry in Croatia (aerospace sector) is almost non-existent. I believe it is not worth it unless you are happy with maintenance jobs in airlines and the military. However, student life is excellent and you will have the time of your life.
