I spent four of the best and most challenging years of my life at York University. For the most part, I liked the course content. We read interesting, thought provoking works written by some of the best thinkers in their fields. I liked most of my professors – apart from the secret racists, the sometimes unbearably boring lectures, and the fact that I never had a Black woman for a professor despite studying the history of oppression. What made my experience at York University exceptional were the people. I connected with amazing souls at Vanier College and at the YU Black Students’ Alliance. They made my experience and my thousands of dollars of debt worth it. Football parties in the village were another highlight of my years there. Of course the readings, the essays and the science requisite were hard but living on campus my first two years made studying, meeting people and partying all the more easier. I recommend York to anybody looking to learn inside and outside the classroom.
