at York University - YU

I transitioned into York as a transfer student from a different university and I had a great time studying there. I started off as a psychology major but didn’t do very well in my first year. Thankfully, there were many resources at York that allowed me to petition eligible grades off my transcript and seamlessly transitioned into another major that I enjoyed and excelled in. Secondly, as a student with a disability, the professors and the university provided me with many accommodations such as notetaking services, extra time for exams and extension requests that allowed me to participate equitably in the university experience.

There are so many restaurants and cafes on campus to choose from. When it comes to food, the options are endless! What I really like about them is that many cafes like Aroma, Tim Hortons and Starbucks all have lots of seating where you can sip on your coffee or enjoy a small snack while studying.

I do have to note that one of the ‘cons’ about York University is that faculty for contract professors are very likely to strike every three years. It is definitely a deciding factor when it comes to selecting an university but I have fortunately not experienced this during my time at York.

The education I have received has led me to pursue my Masters’s degree. The Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School are among the top programs in Canada. Given my very positive experience here, I definitely recommend this school.
