As a Bachelor of Commerce student at the Sauder School of Business, my experience at UBC has been both academically enriching and personally transformative.
Academics & Faculty
UBC offers a rigorous and well-structured curriculum, particularly in the Sauder School of Business, where courses are designed to be both theoretical and practical. The professors bring real-world experience into the classroom, often incorporating case studies, group projects, and interactive discussions. However, some large class sizes in introductory courses can make it challenging to receive individualized attention.
Campus & Student Life
The Vancouver campus is stunning, with breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains. Beyond academics, UBC has a thriving student community with numerous clubs, networking events, and opportunities to get involved. The diverse and inclusive environment ensures that students from all backgrounds feel welcome.
Career Support & Opportunities
Sauder provides strong career support, with networking events, resume workshops, and recruitment fairs that connect students with top firms. The Co-op and internship programs are highly beneficial for gaining real-world experience. However, competition for some opportunities can be intense, requiring students to be proactive in their job search.
Areas for Improvement
While the academic experience is excellent, course registration can be competitive, and securing preferred classes sometimes requires careful planning. Additionally, the cost of living in Vancouver is quite high, making affordability a challenge for many students.
