MacEwan University gave me the best university experience I could have ever asked for, and beyond that. I didn’t feel like a number in a classroom, I felt like a valued student. My professors not only loved their jobs, taught well and in unique ways, but they cared about me and the success of their students and were always there for help and assistance. My program had dozens and dozens of interesting, informative courses I could take to fill my breadth requirements, the tuition was fairly priced, my student benefits were amazing and made me feel cared for, the facilities were always well maintained, clean and accessible and I always felt safe, welcomed and wanted on campus. I miss my university days in the best way possible. If I could do it again, I’d choose MacEwan all over again.
View moreThis university has some courses for international students which is no use for the money spending. I’m also one of those who spent 40 grand and did not get any real value. Moreover, few staffs has good knowledge about the subject because they all work full time at somewhere else and just coming here to make some cash. On the other hand, few staffs doesn’t even have enough knowledge about the subject.
A instructor took financial literacy class and claimed there was a “0% tax bracket in Canada” for people earning under $15k per year. I have no idea which country’s tax system he was referring to. Also, none of the courses offered to international students were credit courses, which makes it feel like the university is mainly focused on tripling the money it earns from us compared to domestic students.
To all my friends who have big dreams: think carefully and avoid taking any courses at MacEwan University. This is my friendly advice.
Thank you!!!!
View moreWhile I truly value MacEwan’s professors, campus atmosphere, and academic program, the university administration has been profoundly disappointing. Their promotional materials promise flexibility and support, yet they enforce rigid class schedules that ignore the realities of mature students with caregiving responsibilities. This gap between marketing and practice feels misleading, reflects poor communication, and shows a complete lack of genuine effort to accommodate family status. MacEwan, please live up to your own promises. I believed in you.
View moreSome things about MacEwan were great. Small class sizes primarily.
I took a BA in psychology. In the entire degree, we were offered virtually no practical experience whatsoever. No practicing being a therapist, no going to various sites, no nothing. I spent my degree quite literally reading and regurgitating, and when I was done, I left with a useless piece of paper and no experience.
Nobody at MacEwan told me I would need professor references for grad school. So on top of having no experience, I also had no references.
My point here is that they don’t actually prepare you for real life. Or a job.
View moreMacEwan University offers a welcoming environment with a strong focus on student success. The professors are approachable, passionate, and ensure a balance between theory and practical learning. I appreciated the smaller class sizes, which made it easier to engage and ask questions during lectures. The campus facilities, especially the library and study spaces, are modern and well-equipped for student needs.
Student life is vibrant, with plenty of clubs and activities to join. However, tuition can feel a bit high compared to other Canadian universities, which is something to consider. The support services, like academic advisors and mental health resources, are excellent and truly help students succeed.
