I would recommend Lakehead to anyone who is looking for a school with small class sizes, approachable professors and an easy to navigate campus.
I liked that the business program placed a heavy emphasis on group work and presentations. I also liked how the capstone project involved working with people from the community, allowing students to network with people from the city of Thunder Bay
The campus also has a newly renovated gymnasium and fitness area and lots of intermural sports for students to participate in.
It is a good school with interesting professors. The people are amazing and while school can be tough it can still be very enjoyable. It is in a small city so there’s limited options when it comes to social activities.
View moreSo far my experience with Lakehead University has been mostly positive. There various clubs that are run by students domestic and international wise, as well as supported and funded by Lakehead Student Union. There are multi-culture center that offers support and places for studying. A Food Pantry allow students to freely take non-perishable foods both bought by university funding or community donations. Plenty of on-campus jobs to apply to alleviate student financial stress. A lot of events from Student Success Center, International Student Office, Student Health and Wellness, Pride Center to help student maintain a healthy campus life.
View moreThe law school lacks electrical sockets, parking, and classrooms are very small. The amount is places to plug in your laptop is very disappointing. Having classes from basically 9-5 with a two-hour lunch break means that your laptop will need to be charged at least once. The law school also doesn’t have a parking lot for its students and it’s either pay for a spot at the local church, get a parking ticket for parking at the park, or park on a far side street and hope for the best. The classrooms are small and 30+ students in one room make for a tight squeeze. The auditorium is also the most uncomfortable room, the chairs are horrible, and the round tables mean someone sits backwards from the lecture or faces without a table in front of them. For the most part, the profs are very knowledgeable but some seem to be teaching the wrong subjects.
View moreThis program is full of many valuable experiences due to the large time spent in a laboratory setting, enabling students to gain hands-on experience. The professors in this program are very helpful and have an array of background experience in many fields. With options such as adding a minor, concurrent education or a co-op the many possibilities to excell your career before you complete your degree is endless.
