This university is highly rated, great campus, great students I feel like I belong, great education. Some of the professors especially in the science departments seem to care less about the students and are not very helpful.
View moreAs a Computer Science student at the University of Alberta, my experience has been mostly positive. The program is challenging but well-structured, and many of the professors are passionate and knowledgeable—especially in upper-year courses. What stood out to me the most was how much support is available if you’re willing to seek it out, whether it’s through office hours, TA sessions, or peer groups.
Campus life is lively, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved through clubs and events, although it can feel overwhelming at first. One thing I would mention is that first-year class sizes can be large, which sometimes makes it hard to get one-on-one attention. That said, the university does offer resources like tutoring and academic advising to help you stay on track.
Overall, the U of A offers a solid education and a supportive environment—you just need to take the initiative to make the most of it.
