Pretty good school with a good environment. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a big but still feels small and calm campus. If I were to rate it, I would give it five out of five just because of all that I said up above.
View moreThis was my only choice for post-secondary education but I originally had my eyes on the psychology program instead of sociology (I do not regret entering sociology). MRU has its fair share of good moments; however I think there are certain professors who shouldnt be teaching because of their biases that leak into the way they teach their lectures. I also did not appreciate how expensive the parking was, especially if you bought a SEMESTER’s worth which was around $400 (a price some people can’t afford to pay). Also there is too much advocation for accessibility and inclusion but no actual action. For example, the recent addition of “all-gender” washrooms but the school just relabeled some of the previous washrooms… disappointing when so much money is being brought in.
View moreI love the class size allowing me to meet people easily, and all the professors are wonderful. The resources as well such as student learning service, peer learning/ mentor and workshops have been very helpful and have all helped me excel in my classes.
View moreI liked how there were areas in every building and floor for studying , or to just sit with friends and relax. Also I enjoy going to the library at mru because the librarians are very helpful for school work.
View moreMy overall opinion of Mount Royal is positive. I enjoyed the smaller class sizes as professors were allowed to remember students’ names and engage us in more class-based discussions and allow small group work. This allowed students to get closer to their classmates and closer to the professor. However, I would like to highlight only a small percentage of professors use the small classes effectively. A majority of professors treat a small class like a larger university class, presenting topics on mundane PowerPoint. From my own experience, I tended to score higher in classes that had a professor that used small class sizes to their advantage. I would recommend Mount Royal to anyone pursuing higher education, especially students not from the City of Calgary as the class sizes make it easy to get acquainted with your fellow classmates.

View moreGreat place to learn. I loved how classes felt personal and smaller in size. Professors are great and care about your progress. Also, they have pretty awesome advisors whom you can reach for any questions.
View moreI have been at the school for a year now and I can say that it’s not completely terrible however, there are things I would change or don’t like. My program is very fun and I have liked it but sometimes the teachers for my classes end up being bad teachers. I had one experience where a teacher marked my assignment while being in a mood and gave me a lower grade. Most teachers are good but some have bad days and decide to take it out on their students. However, asides from this one issue I would say that this school has no other issues in my eyes.
