Honestly, the best thing about TRU? The people. You’ll meet folks from everywhere—it’s like a mini UN, but with way more fun and way less paperwork. Seriously, you’ll learn more from your classmates’ stories than some textbooks.
Campus life? Super convenient. Kamloops is small, so everything’s basically at your doorstep (no 6am bus rides here). Plus, the profs? Actually helpful. They’ll guide you but won’t micromanage—you get to shape your degree your way.
Bottom line: Good vibes, good people, and just enough freedom to make it “your” university experience.
View moreAs an international student at Thompson Rivers University, I’ve found it to be such a welcoming and supportive place to study. The campus in Kamloops is stunning—surrounded by nature, which makes it feel like a retreat while still being a hub for learning. The faculty are super approachable and always encourage you to get involved in discussions, which has been great for me as I adjust to a new academic environment. That said, some things, like course registration, can be a bit frustrating, and the admin could be more responsive at times. Overall, though, TRU has been an inclusive and flexible place to grow academically and personally.
View moreOne of the best part about being in Thompson Rivers University is the inclusive and diverse environment. It has given me an opportunity to meet people from various cultural backgrounds and it broadens your understanding and helps you appreciate different perspectives. The diversity encourages open discussions and fosters a collaborative learning atmosphere. While it offers great environment the campus can sometimes feel a bit small and some facilities may not be as modern as those at larger universities. However, the supportive community and opportunities for personal and academic growth outweighs these minor drawbacks. Overall, I highly recommend Thompson Rivers University for anyone looking for a diverse environment and encourages global thinking. It’s a great place to grow academically and personally.
