I think Acadia University overall was a good university. But, for people who have learning differences, and having these challenges myself, I found it be to quite difficult. Yes, they offer extra times on tests, and assign people to take notes for you, but ultimately how does that benefit one’s learning? For myself I have difficulty focusing, especially during lectures. Yet, it is still the same “learning experience” that has been being taught for years. ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, etc. has become more recognized within the last 5 years, specifically within young adults. Many people want to attend university but have difficulties because they genuinely cannot learn the same as other people, but the people who are teaching us…Give or take 10% of them will learn and understand new teaching methods that can be beneficial for everyone. I really enjoyed my time at Acadia, and the 10% of amazing and inclusive professors I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with have been amazing. But, at the end of the day times are changing and I think if students are required to pay an unreal amount for tuition, they should be able to learn the best of THEIR abilities, not someone else’s!
