University of Buea is a great University well structured with an administration open and close to the students.
There is a variety of programs, both academic and professional training programs. It is true the professional training schools are not fully equipped with appropriate material but things are improving.
The evaluation procedures are fair. This means students results are well treated.
The University has a secured, large and very clean campus.
Being in Cameroon which is a Bilingual country, the University is purely Anglo-saxons making it difficult for French speaking students.
Scholarships are offered to students even though there is an age limit for those.
Campus life is outstanding.

Review of the University of Buea

My time at the University of Buea was both challenging and transformative. The academic program was intense, often leaving little room for balancing coursework with economic activities. The socio-political crisis significantly disrupted studies, making the learning environment unpredictable. Additionally, I faced difficulties with a lecturer who penalized me for expressing differing views in class. Despite these challenges, the university provided a rigorous education that shaped my resilience and critical thinking. It’s an institution that pushes students to adapt and grow, even in difficult circumstances.

i studied a masters degree program at the university of Buea, cameroon. it was tough with so many calculative courses yet we kept on working due to the good quality of lectures we had at the university. it was a good experience as i learned a lot

The university of Buea is an amazing school with diverse programs. A place to be ( as most students have it “while not yet there”) mostly because of its long standing excellence in her works. It is however might be made very difficult or unbearable when lecturers decide to make ones life difficult. They say things which i won’t say here and openly talk boost how no one can do a thing to them. Overall it is a nice institution and just the place to be and a place you don’t want to be while there for the faint of heart.

The University of Buea offers a solid academic foundation, especially in technical fields like Computer Engineering. One of the university’s strengths is its focus on fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills through practical projects. The lecturers are generally knowledgeable, and the campus has a diverse student body, which contributes to a well-rounded educational experience.

What I Liked:

– Hands-on learning: The program emphasizes real-world applications, which helped me transition smoothly into technical roles after graduation.
– Diverse community: The collaborative atmosphere among students, especially in engineering, makes it easier to tackle challenges and learn from one another.
– Faculty expertise: Most lecturers have a good grasp of their subjects and are accessible for questions or mentorship.
What I Disliked:

– Outdated resources: Some lab equipment and resources could use upgrading, especially in an evolving field like computer engineering, where access to modern tools is crucial.
– Limited internship support: There’s room for improvement in providing students with industry connections or internship opportunities, which are essential for gaining real-world experience.

Would I Recommend It?: Yes, I would recommend the University of Buea, especially for students who are self-motivated and interested in gaining practical skills. While there are areas for improvement, the quality of education, especially in technical fields like Computer Engineering, is solid. If you take full advantage of the resources and are proactive in seeking out opportunities, the university provides a good foundation for success.

The University of Buea is a good university and a great place of learning. The environment is educational friendly and very calm for studies.
One of the major aspects I like about the university is its lecturers. They have excellent lecturers who make sure to educate the students in the best possible way they can.
I will definitely recommend this university to anyone especially those in the tech field.

University of Buea, being a state university, is one of the be
st in Cameroon and Africa. Buea, a town in the English speaking South Western region of Cameroon, is a great touristic place for people around the world due to the great weather and the mountain view. This makes the university have a suitable environmental structure for studies.
The University have different faculties and schools with programs containing Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, History, Literature, Linguistics, Translation, amongst others, with priority lecturing language of English language. The tuition fee is down to nothing for both the general and professional sections. The well-trained lecturers make life easier for students as they professional follow the great study programs (bachelors, masters, PhD) of the university.
The certificates issued to students are well recognized and accepted around the world. All graduates from the university make great impacts to the nation and the world at large, fulfilling the sustainable development goals.

The teachers are good, the staff, everything but my one problem is that they don’t invest in us. They don’t offer us opportunities to express what we learn. Especially my department (Computer SCIENCE) We don’t even have a lap. No internet on campus. Very limited halls, makes students to run up and down because they have to secure a seat.
