It’s probably the best university in the Balkans to study social sciences (business, politics, economics, journalism). Not so great for computer science and other tech-oriented fields. The liberal arts system offer a myriad of opportunities to explore interests and flexibility to choose a major when ready. The extracurriculars offered through clubs are also amazing for building soft skills. The faculty staff could be more stable and better chosen for their skills. The administration could also be much better chosen because there are a lot of issues with it. Anyway, overall it’s a good university to study in.
View moreThe program is quite diverse. You have the chance to choose from a variety of classes from all kinds of study fields such as arts, sciences and social ones. I liked the fact that you can design your own degree and are free to change it whenever you want no matter what year you are or how many classes you have taken. The majority of the professors are really helpful and supportive. The university life on campus is great, but I would have liked for the conditions to be better (considering the price that is paid per semester). The community is diverse and there is a lot of support and acceptance from the university and the community itself. I would suggest the university to other students as it offers great opportunities and through the experience there you can learn a lot. a bonus is that AUBG has a great alumni network, which is quite helpful after you graduate.
View moreAUBG provides a lot of international experience and career opportunities. I like most of the professors, even though there are few that are not as good at explaining the material. We have different clubs and events going on on campus. From what I know from the seniors and graduates, it is easy to find a good job in Bulgaria after the graduation. Overall, would recommend the university.
View moreFirst and foremost everyone here is exceptionally kind. I would say that’s the biggest perk of the university. The professors are always ready to help and are very passionate about their subject (even though some simply are not good at teaching it to the students in an engaging way).
Many majors and minors are offered. After graduating students get both an American and European diploma (for most majors). The university follows the American system of education – as in, many of the courses that one can take are electives (depending on the pursued major the number varies). Everything is taught in English. There are about 20 student clubs – radio Aura, Olympics(organize sports events), Business club, Xaia Hiking club, The Hub (programming), Sustainability Club, Better Community club, Psychology club, MoreHonors (humorous videos and roast shows), Elevate (proposals of business ideas), and many more.
The students are expected to live in dormitories. Together with two more buildings (in which there are a library, classrooms, auditoriums, professor offices, a canteen, a cafe, a gym and so on), a campus is formed in a typical American style (but it is not closed off from the rest of the town so locals often take walks on the university’s pathways). An interesting additional fact – there is a small river right next to the campus. The main building of the university is in the centre of the town and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to it. Most of the classes offered there fall under the Business Administration and Literature majors so some students do not even have to go there all that often.
Most of the students are Bulgarian and Albanian but about 50 nations are represented so it could be said that the environment is international. Every year there are about 30 Erasmus students as well.
There is a lot to be said about the university. It certainly has its pros and cons. However, overall it is considered to be the best in the region so if you want to study in Eastern Europe, more specifically the Balkans, why not.
AUBG offers a variety of different major and minor programmes. Its professors are devoted to delivering the academic material very clearly and they are successful in doing so. The university stands out with the large number of clubs. All of them conduct great events (competitions, for example) throughout the academic year that help students develop their skills further. AUBG has stunning facilities and is located in sunny Blagoevgrad. The university for sure offers a lot of possibilities for development after graduation.
View moreThe university overall is really good. Offers all kinds of evends, actuvities and career opportunities for its students. It does not offer a lot of majors and minors though. In terms of accomodation, location, etc is perfect and the conditions are amazing compared to other universities in the Balkans. A downside would be that is actually pretty expensive but on the other hand, lots od students receive scholarships which is great. You get the opportunity to participate in WORK

With an opportunity to graduate with a double major and minor, AUBG will give any student the right mixture of theoretical and practical experience. Unlike other universities, AUBG tries to keep up with the latest trends, therefore modifying and introducing new classes each year.
Another thing that is crucially important – the extracurricular activities. With more than 30 student clubs, there is absolutely something for everyone. A calendar filled with student activities will always give you a reason for social bonding.
Blagoevgrad is already considered a student city. AUBG is a great reason why is that the case.
