“AUBG is the place to be” is the slogan that the American University in Bulgaria has promoted on their social media platforms for years now. In a sense, they are not wrong. Especially in the Balkans, it is very rare to get exposed to this many different ethnicities and cultures all at once. One of the most refreshing facets of AUBG is its people and its events. The campus feels like a community. The professors, however, most of them at least, have a tendency of disrupting that harmonious image a bit. Teachers in AUBG are eccentric at times, very strict with deadlines but some of them are very empathetic and understanding. The program is US-based – meaning its courses are adaptive of liberal arts school in the States. That can be quite confusing at first, especially with the general education courses. Overall, I have to say that AUBG has shaped me to become the person that I am today. And for that, I am glad.
