UFRJ is amazing! We have lots of opportunities to learn outside the classroom – such as extension projects, research laboratories, free language courses, and mandatory internships, among others. The institution has several amazing teachers, some that whom I will take as professional colleagues for life! Transitioning from adolescence to adulthood in UFRJ was an experience I will never forget – so many experiences and growth opportunities!
There are a lot of great teachers, with deep knowledge of their courses’ subject. Sadly, we face some structural problems, in which our physical spaces’ resources are limited (e.g. sometimes we do not have toilet paper, paper towels or soap in the bathroom, or our classrooms do not have whiteboard markers) and the teachers pitch in to solve those issues. And, yet, the institution was voted as one of the best in Brazil and Latin America!
For me, the variety of teachers in every subject is a good thing, cause it’s possible to change and learn different things from them, also, how much they know about what they teach is a quality that needs to be highlighted.
Although UFRJ is a kind of a “city” some buildings need some repairs and maybe a reconstruction, they have the space to support so many students, but still need to change some aspects like certain locations that are dangerous, especially at night because don’t have the proper lighting.
The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro is the best university in the country, among the best in Latin America. Teaching, research and extension make life at the university incomparable, in addition to all student assistance given through scholarships, housing, food, transport, etc.View more
The university is filled with the best professors who practice serious and detailed studies towards a great diversity of fields. UFRJ campus is pleasantly large, It contains a free system of public transport inside so nobody has to walk considerable distances and 3 university restaurants which charge low prices.
The friends, experiences and the profound acknowledgement is worth all the facilities and accommodation issues every single student has to deal with unless you need to live in one of the university accommodations (where basic conditions are much more compromised).
I strongly recommend Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro if you are a local in the city or the state, particularly if you are up to Arts and Humanities like me.
The course was too theoretical, it lacks practice activities and useful projects. The people, teachers, and friends are the highlights, besides the opportunities that appear. I don’t think that the methods are the best, but it works. I wouldn’t recommend my course to a friend, but, definitely, I would recommend the University.View more
UFRJ is one of the best universities in Brazil with international recognition, is one of the main centers of knowledge production in Latin America. Despite the context of crisis in Brazil, UFRJ continues to maintain its importance in the national scenario. It is responsible for the formation of big names in the history of the country in various areas and for that reason it is still a privileged space.View more
